Day to Day Itinerary

Day 1 : Monday : Bangalore

Report at The Taj West End Hotel by 4 p.m. for check-in formalities while you enjoy high tea & brief presentation about the train. Proceed for a visit to the art gallery and enjoy a cultural dance performance. Reach Yeshwantpur Railway Station, by 8 pm and you will be escorted to your respective cabins. Dinner on board as the train departs by 9 pm for Chennai.

Day 2 : Tuesday : Chennai & Mamallapuram

After breakfast, head out to explore the city of Mamallapuram, famous for its history and shore temple. After spending the morning at Mamallapuram, enjoy lunch at the Radisson Blu Temple Bay hotel. Later, you will be taken for a sightseeing tour of Chennai to Siant Thomas Cathedral, the Kapaleeshwarar temple, Sri Parthasarathy temple and the National Art Gallery and Museum. In the evening return to the train as the train departs for Puducherry. Dinner and overnight stay on board the train. 

Day 3 : Wed : Auroville & Pondicherry

After breakfast head out for a morning excursion to Auroville-a modern commune, this works towards the unification of all religions. It was founded by India’s renowned philosopher Sri Aurobindo in 1920. Return to train for lunch. 
In the afternoon stroll through the beach town of Pondicherry-this former French colony exhibits a Mediterranean aura with French style architecture and boutiques. Proceed for dinner to eco-resort & later return to train as it makes its way to Tanjavur.

Day 4 : Thurs : Tanjavur

As you have your breakfast the train arrives in Tanjavur. Disembark from train to visit the World-famous Brahadishwara temple, a historical monument dating back to 11th century which now is an UNESCO World Heritage Site. The region also offers unique Tanjavur style paintings and Tanjavur dolls. Lunch will be served at the Ideal River View Resort. After lunch, visit Trichy where you will see the famous Sri Rangam Temple. In the evening return to the train to relax. Dinner and overnight stay onboard the train.

Day 5 : Fri : Madurai

After breakfast you will disembark to explore this city of Madurai which has a rich cultural heritage that goes back to over 2, 500 years. The city is identical with the celebrated Meenakshi temple which is known today as one of the country’s greatest architectural landmarks. Close to the temple is situated yet another architectural wonder, the Tirumalai Nayak Mahal, a beautiful blend of Dravidian, Islamic and European architecture. 
Return to train for lunch. 
Later in the afternoon visit Poompuhar Handicrafts Emporium where you can shop for exquisite handicrafts. Then proceed to Tirumalai Nayak Mahal for sound & light show, followed by dinner & traditional folk performance at The Heritance. Return to train for a scrumptious lunch as the train leaves for Kanyakumari.  

Day 6 : Sat : Kanyakumari, Trivandrum & Kovalam 

Reaching the southernmost point of India, you can proceed to Kanyakumari sunrise point & brief city tour. Then return to the train for breakfast. After breakfast visit the Padmanabhpuram Wooden Palace. After lunch visit the Kovalam Beach located on Arabian Sea, offers a natural cove with shallow waters stretching for hundreds of metres making it ideal for swimming.  In the evening return to the train to relax and enjoy a Gala dinner as the train leaves for Kochi.

Day 7 : Sun : Kerala Backwaters & Kochi

After breakfast visit Alleppey, where you board the house boat cruise in Punnamada Lake. Enjoy boat cruise through its canals, which takes you past scenic islands covered with coconut and palm trees. After lunch visit Kochi- a vibrant cosmopolitan city famous for its Jewish Synagogue and the Dutch palace. Then board the train as it leaves for Bangalore.

Day 08 : Bangalore Return
Today after breakfast, disembark from the train as this beautiful journey comes to an end.
