The Danube Express is Central Europe’s ultimate luxury 'Hotel on Wheels', offering a very sophisticated and relaxing way to travel to some of the continent's most enticing destinations. The glamour of this train lies in the experience and in the journey, in the allure of adventure and in the style, comfort and service on board. The train has 8 carriages and can accommodate upto 42 guests. Modern comfort and traditional ambience are combined on this private train, with an emphasis on comfort, informality and fun.
This private train, featuring refurbished cars formerly used by Hungarian government officials, offers stops for sightseeing in renowned capitals like Budapest, Prague, and Vienna. It also includes visits to spa towns and Dracula's castle in Transylvania.
Travel back to a lost world of stately progress and genteel sightseeing as you experience epic rivers, lofty mountains, grassy plateaus and beautiful medieval towns.
Travel in privacy and luxury in some of the finest rail accommodation available in Europe today. The Danube Express offers two types of accommodation:

Deluxe
Each newly reconstructed Deluxe sleeping car has just five spacious yet intimate en suite compartments with two lower beds that fold up into seating during the day. Private bathrooms feature a shower with constant hot water, washbasin and WC. There is a heated towel rail, shaver socket and a hairdryer. Fresh white towels and some toiletries are also provided. Two comfortable armchairs provide daytime seating and a free-standing chair adds flexibility. Cupboards and a full-length wardrobe provide ample storage whilst the large picture window and full-length mirror enhance the spacious feel.

Classic
Older and less expensive accommodations are in the classic cabins, which are approx 33 sq ft, with bunk-style beds that fold into seating by day. They are more suited to single travellers. The shower and toilet are down the hall.

In both categories, the air-conditioning has individual temperature control and lighting can be adjusted for mood or task with soft, concealed ceiling lights, spotlights and personal reading lamps. Each compartment can be locked and a personal safe is provided. There are also power sockets for recharging batteries. Co-ordinated fabrics complement wood panelled walls and brass fittings. A second window opens for that perfect photo opportunity or simply to let in some fresh air.
The elegant yet unpretentious Restaurant car offers a comfortable and informal atmosphere.  All meals are served in a single sitting, so there is time to relax and enjoy the sense of occasion. Breakfasts are cooked to order – delicious bacon and eggs or a selection of omelettes.  A lighter selection includes a cold meat platter or fresh fruit and of course, juice, cereals, rolls and preserves are also available, along with tea and coffee.  Appetising lunches and dinners are set for table d’hôte meals, accompanied by your choice of house wine, beer or soft drinks.  Water, tea and coffee are also provided.  In addition, premium wines, champagne and spirits are available to purchase. The meals are also an opportunity to sample local specialities.

The Lounge car  has a warm and friendly atmosphere, making it the ideal place to rendezvous with new friends, perhaps to enjoy relaxed conversation over a coffee or pre-dinner drink.  Wood panelled walls, softly toned décor, comfortable sofas and seating, complete with onboard piano, combine to create an agreeable ambience that makes it the social hub of the Danube Express.

Pricing varies based on the journey, cabin preference, season of travel & more.
